There are very well known travel destinations in China. The Great Wall and Tiananmen square Beijing, the Bund and French Concession in Shanghai, the terracotta warriors in Xi’an are just some. One of the most beautiful, cool places to visit in China often gets overlooked. The place is called Harbin and it is located near Russia in the northeastern part of China. It is the eighth most populated city in the country and is filled with very unique things to do.

Harbin has an annual winter festival. It includes a contest for the biggest and most beautiful ice sculptures. When the festival first began it was mostly attended by Chinese, but now it is very international and people come to watch and participate from all over the world. It is quite the sight to see!

Sun Island is located north of the Songua River. It is totally beautiful! Some of the exhibits from the festival are featured there in the winter. It is also filled with amazing architecture. You can see the Russian influence certainly.

Harbin Zhongyand Pedestrian Street is located in the hub of the downtown area. There is amazing architecture, hundreds of stores and restaurants, and beautiful outdoor art. You can find special things here you can’t in other places in the world. Goods from France, Russia, Japan, Germany, India, and the USA are all sold. It is a must see!
