Ava Gardner was from South Carolina and had a southern accent. Five years from when she started acting, she finally had her big break in the noir film The Killers. This shot her to stardom and led to an impressive career which spanned half a century! In the ‘80s, her smoking habit began to catch up with the star. She suffered a stroke and emphysema in 1986, which eventually left her paralyzed. In 1990, she passed away because of pneumonia.
