Drake has been sued many times for allegedly plagiarizing lyrics and using samples without permission. One example is from 2012. Singer Ericka Lee filed a lawsuit against Drake for the usage of her voice in the song “Marvins Room.” She provided the female vocals, but also said she was owed songwriting credits and royalties. The two settled outside of court in February 2013.

Drake had a very public battle with Meek Mill. Drake wrote two diss tracks about it entitled “Charged Up” and “Back to Back.” Despite having a huge disagreement with the rapper, when Meek Mill was put in jail Drake stated: “Free Meek Mill” at a concert in Austrailia ending the feud.
