1955 Imperial Midget Racer

Owned Since: 1956
Valued At: Unknown

The Queen may be one of the most powerful people in the world, but she’s not above giving fun gifts. As a gift to Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth bought him an imperial Midget Racer in 1955. A shrunken version of the Imperial Racer, this mini-racer is really phenomenal. In the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, midget racing was also very popular in America during its heyday. The blue and white racer is part of the Royals’ toy collection exhibited at the Palace.

Queen Victoria’s Wedding Dress

Owned Since: 1901
Valued At: Priceless

The original wedding dress of Queen Victoria is a rather remarkable garment and has been owned since 1901 by the Queen. The dress was white, which seems to be common now, but it wasn’t in the 1840s. For the Devon lace-making industry, Queen Victoria’s Honiton lace was a huge boost. Queen Victoria even received credit for starting their weddings with the tradition of brides wearing white. She was buried in her veil when Victoria died, with the veil covering her face. Until it was put on display at Kensington Palace, her dress remained in storage.
