2205 had rolled around and Peggy was still searching for answers. Word had begun to spread regarding Peggy’s story. Local congressman, Rep. Thornberry decided to make a public announcement regarding the situation at hand. However, he was completely misinformed and did not know any of the details in fact. Rep. Thornberry had discussed that Billie was a troop and continued on with incorrect information and statements. His team had provided the wrong information- he ended up making another statement and a public statement to Peggy. He apologized for relaying false information.

Mishandled information left Peggy in the same desperate situation she had to find out exactly what had happened to her husband. Little did she know that reliable leads were coming.
