Nation Mourns
Karen Carpenter was buried at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park on February 8, 1983. Around one thousand mourners came to her funeral. Some of her close friends such as Dorothy Hamill and Olivia Newton-John were in attendance. Thomas Burris was there as well and he threw his wedding band into the casket. Let us not fail to mention the millions of fans who all grieved the death of their idol.

The Final Performance
Karen’s final singing engagement took place at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. She performed multiple Christmas carols for her godchildren and their friends on December 17, 1982. No one, not even Karen, expected that it would be the last time anyone heard her beautiful singing voice.
