Looking at his spelling here, Tom was probably not working as a journalist. If he had, his spelling would have gotten him some serious scolding. Despite his issues with spelling, we still appreciate his written notice. It appears that Tom was pretty much ready to leave but he still told Doug when his last day was so his boss can take note of it in the diary. Tom even wrote the actual date of when he wrote the letter twice just in case his boss did not know.

Mario Leaves The Game
When a computer programmer made a decision to leave his job, he did not want to write a typical resignation letter. He went for nostalgia and turned to Super Mario Bros to make his “letter of resignation.” He made his own sequence in the classic video game. In this sequence, whenever Mario grabs a mushroom, “I QUIT!” appears on the screen. When you get to the end, Mario leaves and never comes back.
