When Karen continued to walk from her home to the clinic, the doctor decided that it was time to contact her family. After all, she was in no condition to walk those two miles on the regular. He posed this question to the Carpenter household: “Do you love Karen?” Richard cried during the phone call and said that he naturally does. Their mother was not moved, however, and lambasted the doctor for asking them a question like that.

Rushed To Hospital
When the doctor answered Karen’s nerve-racking call, she was instructed to head to the hospital. She eventually heeded the advice, but only after several weeks had passed. She was then hooked to an IV drip and it helped her regain 30 pounds in the span of two months. She even went as far as to announce that she had recovered completely and decided to leave in November. A lot of people were concerned that it was far too early, but Karen was hell-bent on getting out as soon as possible.
