Nothing was more important to Karen than raising her own children so she had no choice but to cancel the wedding ceremony. However, her mother did not take kindly to the news when she relayed the problem. Agnes urged her to continue with the wedding since all of their relatives and friends already made plans to come to the wedding. In fact, Agnes told her, “The invitations have gone out. There are reporters and photographers coming. People magazine is going to be there. The wedding is on, and you will walk down that aisle. You made your bed, Karen. Now you’ll have to lay in it.”
